It sees what you can see
Each connection works as one MCS user. The assistant has the same database, depot and access limits as that user has in MCS. Results are scoped to the user's depot or salesperson where MCS scopes them.
Read first
Almost every tool only reads data. Answers come from MCS as it is now, not from a copy.
Nothing is created without a yes
Some tools can raise a record in MCS, such as a quote, through the MCS XML gateway. This always happens in two stages:

| 1. Preview | The assistant checks the record and shows it to you. Nothing is sent to MCS |
| 2. Submit | Only after you clearly say yes is the record sent to MCS |
The assistant only tells you a record exists once MCS confirms it was created.
How answers are produced
The tools return data, not database queries. If you ask how an answer was produced, the assistant describes the tool it used and the filters it applied.
